MLA Legislature Report
Alana DeLong, MLA
Online Virtual Tour Takes You Inside The Alberta Legislature:
Need something to do this Summer! Come take a virtual tour to the
Legislature where I work. A new, groundbreaking online project brings
visitors into the Alberta Legislature through their home or classroom
computer. Step Inside the Alberta Legislature is an engaging, three-dimensional
online experience that features customizable characters, as well
as interactive educational activities. Users can tour the Legislature
Building on their own, with a tour guide, or within a group by visiting
www.virtualvisit.learnalberta.ca. The Virtual Visit replicates the
layout, scale, lighting and finishes of the Alberta Legislature
Building. Online visitors will experience a virtual tour that allows
them to look around and move as if in the real world. The project
aligns with Alberta's curriculum, and also enhances the School-at-the-Legislature
program. More educational features are expected to be added over
the next year. The Virtual Visit is available in both English and
French and can be accessed via the Internet.
Spring Session 2006: The spring sitting of the Alberta Legislature
wrapped up on May 18, following the passage of 41 bills. Key among
them was Bill 1, Alberta Cancer Prevention Legacy Act and amendments
to the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act. This was the
Honourable Premier Ralph Klein’s last attendance in session
and he was highly recognized and congratulated for his 17 years
of service to Albertans, as MLA, cabinet minister and Premier.
A special thanks to the constituents who have taken the time to
write to me on various Alberta issues. Your thoughtful and well
expressed ideas keep Alberta moving towards an even brighter future
