MLA Legislature Report
Alana DeLong, MLA
In 2005, Alberta celebrated 100 years as a province. The centennial
gave all Albertans a chance to look back on the people and events
that shaped the province, as well as look ahead to Alberta’s
future. Highlights of 2005 include the centennial celebrations,
a debt-free Alberta, and a focus on post-secondary education and
building strong communities. With the provincial debt eliminated
and a strong economy, Alberta’s second century is full of
promise. About three quarters of the provincial surplus will be
used to build the province’s future through spending in priority
areas and saving for future prosperity. Part of the surplus plan
also includes giving back, and almost every Albertan will start
the year with an extra $400 in their pockets. The Alberta government
remains committed to ensuring Alberta is the best place to live,
work and raise a family in the world. In Calgary Bow, it was my
honour and privilege to recognize the following Albertans who have
served their communities unselfishly for the benefit of others.
The following constituents were awarded with a 2005 Alberta Centennial
Gold Medal and 2005 Alberta Centennial Silver Coin.
