Alberta Wait List Registry

You and your physician may now get information about wait times for surgeries, MRIs, and CT scans from the Alberta Waitlist Registry on the internet at www.health.gov.ab.ca. The registry makes it easy for you to find out how long you may have to wait for a specific procedure, at a specific hospital, from a specific physician.

New Electronic Health Record Launched

Alberta has implemented the country’s first province-wide electronic health record, which will provide physicians and other health care providers with access to important health information that improves patient safety. The record stores patient information online, so that health care providers may immediately access important information such as prescription history, allergies and laboratory test results. Patient information is protected by the highest online security standards in the world. Health care providers using the system undergo a rigorous security clearance, and information is accessed on a need-to-know basis only - for example, a pharmacist would only have access to pharmaceutical information. All other information is blocked.

Alberta Learning

Alberta’s Commission on Learning submitted its final report and recommendations to the Minister of Learning, Dr. Lyle Oberg. The report and recommendations are the culmination of over 15 months of consultations, reviews, meetings, and discussions on the future of education in Alberta. The Commission’s report entitled, Every Child Learns; Every Child Succeeds, is a package of 95 recommendations and sets out new directions and specific actions to be taken. Please call my constituency for copy(s) of the report.

Thank you to all those who who have shared their views regarding insurance. Auto insurance rates will be frozen by the Alberta government at October 30 levels until an insurance rate reform package is approved and implemented. The freeze could last up to 18 months. I would encourage you to visit www.autoinsurance.gov.ab.ca for the most up date information.
